Csernáton/Cernat

Csernáton has become famous for its regional museum opened in 1974. The museum presents the most beautiful pieces of folklore art of the Felső-Háromszék region, including painted Saxon furniture, stove tiles and folk-weave.

The building is surrounded by an open-air exhibition presenting the restored monumental Saxon gates and memorabilia from the folkloric architecture including houses and mills. You find an open-air collection of tombstones, tomb signs and carved tomb crosses as well as a rich exhibition of agricultural tools and machines. The opening hours of the museum are rather flexible since the owners, the Haszmann brothers live in the building.
